Important Changes to Product Test Process for Vendors

Starting early next week, ClickBank will improve the way vendors place test orders for their products.

Currently, each specific product is placed in Test Mode using the My Products menu. In the new testing method, vendors can generate a test credit card number that is usable only for their products, and which expires after 24 hours for security purposes. This card information is generated using the My Site page, and can be used to place test purchases for any product in the vendor’s account, whether it has been approved or not.

This new testing method will allow vendors to place test purchases of their products while they are still available for sale, which was not possible before. In addition, we will now send Instant Notifications for test purchases, allowing vendors to verify that Instant Notifications are working properly.

We will include more detailed information in your account once the test mode process changes.

    How can we/I make sure that the product I sell (and the point-of-sale) — that clickbank DOES not addon some random unwanted monthly subscription or service charge like is currently happening. the $14.95 has NOTHIG to do with my sale and is it causing BIG problems

      Hi Rich,

      I’m not sure what you’re referring to, but ClickBank doesn’t add on any sales ourselves. Some ClickBank vendors may choose to offer additional products to customers who have already placed an order, but that is entirely up to the individual vendor. If you promote a product for a vendor who does this and you don’t want them to offer upsells to their customers, you’d need to contact them and let them know directly. ClickBank itself doesn’t add these additional offers.

    It’s not clear what name and email to enter with the test credit card. Can’t get it to work in testing my site–says card doesn’t match when it does. Also, link to help page is broken.

      You can enter any name or email address when placing a test order, though we recommend using an email you receive so you can see the transactional email from the customer’s perspective. If you’re having trouble getting the card to work, try regenerating the card information and see if that helps. If not, please let me know. I’ll also look into the broken link you mentioned.

    I also can’t get the test credit card to work. I tried regenerating the # and it still won’t accept it. It keeps saying “Credit card info entered does not match test credit card.”

    And as per what Dave said, the link to the help page is broken:

    If you can email me anything else to try to get this test function to work it would be appreciated.

      Sorry to hear you’re having problems. After generating a new test credit card number, try waiting 5 minutes before placing an order. There may be a delay in recognizing the new number, so see if that helps.

      You can use any number and email address you want when testing the order.

    I would like to see Clickbank doing some more testing on the order form. However instead of testing the colors I think the layout needs some serious testing.

    I think the McAfee and Verisign logos shoud be much further up the page above the fold. I can understand that having them near the order button may be a good idea however no one will get down that far unless they first trust the page. You might want to try adding a second set of the trust seals up the top of the page right next to the payment, currency section so as to cover both bases.

    I also think there should be a gold 60 day guarantee seal somewhere on the order form somewhere. Every product sold through clickbank has to adhere to a 60 day money back guarantee so why not flaunt that on the order page?

    Being from Australia I am also a bit concerned about the ‘Change Currency’ box you introduced last year. It appears that when you click to the order form it automatically detects your currency basedon your location. As most people are using USD pricing on their website I think this should flow over to the order form so customers don’t see an inflated price right away and wonder why th price has gone up or down.

    Sure, give them the option to choose their own currency but don’t make that choice for tem automatically.

    So, any testing of the order form likely to happen anytime soon? I know you are currently testing unique headers/skins with select accounts and I saw soe positioning testing last week, but I think the things above are more important – it’s what customers need to see before they will trust the site.

      Thanks for the thoughts and ideas. You’re right that we’ve been testing a few things on our order form lately, and will continue with more testing going forward. We’re actually already planning to test some of the specific things you mentioned, and will incorporate any changes that show positive results into the order form. Thanks again for the ideas.
